This honing steel is a great way to preserve the edge of your knives. The Honing steels hardened and the ridged surface will slowly move the steel of your knife back to sharp. Unlike diamond steel or grinders, a honing steel is meant to hone the edge rather than grind away metal to create a new edge. For best performance, it is recommended to use your honing steel frequently.
